Virginia Beach Whales starter Barry St. John kept the Barton Springs Blues hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 8-1 win. St. John got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Virginia Beach is now 16-9.

Virginia Beach used a clutch at-bat from Alden Swain to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Whales ahead, 7-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
