Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Virginia Beach Grounds.

Virginia Beach designated hitter Miguel Angel Flores was sensational. He was 4-5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Pine Island beat the Whales, 13-9. Bryan Abdale claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 3-0.

Pine Island won the game in part because of Edgardo Moreno. The right fielder ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Dolphins ahead, 13-9. For the game, Moreno had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Moreno told the Pine Island Daily.
