Farmers Snag 3-1 Win
|
Ottawa got a terrific performance from pitcher Bob O'Reilly, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lancaster Farmers. Lancaster won the Nationals Park contest, 3-1. O'Reilly threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Fjodor Ishemgujin, now 1-2, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. The Farmers now have a record of 9-20.
Lancaster used the timely hitting of John Murphy to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Farmers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Ottawa manager Jorge Carranza.
