Whales Collect 8-3 Win Versus Westwood
|
The Virginia Beach Whales topped the Westwood Sixshooters, 8-3, in M3L Double A action at Sixshooters Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Virginia Beach pitcher and Paya, Dominican Republic, native Ricardo Romo. The winning pitcher was Romo, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. The 6th-place Whales sport a record of 14-15.
It could have been a different outcome for Virginia Beach, had it not been for Mibre Chipley, the 27-year old shortstop . Chipley contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Virginia Beach up, 2-0.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Romo.
