Farmers Handed 8-1 Loss by Fat Cats
|
The Ottawa Fat Cats downed the Lancaster Farmers, 8-1, at Nationals Park. The Fat Cats were led by Luis Mata. Mata went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Nick Lyons earned the win for Ottawa. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-0. Ottawa, at 16-14, sits in 4th place in the Menard's AA.
Juan Leyva, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA in triples with 1, took Lancaster hurler Nicholas Reyes deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Fat Cats on top, 2-0. In all, Leyva had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Said losing manager Dave Davis: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
