The Yakima Hops topped the Virginia Beach Whales, 4-3, with youngster Marc Maron playing a key role. Maron went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Hops in the win. Manny Cruz picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Cristovão Mineiro suffered the loss. Yakima occupies 9th place in the Menard's AA at 16-16.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Yakima. That's when Teodoro Testavallia, who is tied for 4th in the 3AA in hits with 44, hit a run-scoring double off Cristovão Mineiro to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Maron told a local reporter after the game.
