Tight Tilt Goes to Dolphins, 4-3
|
The Pine Island Dolphins beat the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 4-3, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. The Dolphins got a fine performance from first baseman Luis Sandoval, who went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Alonso González in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Otis Farr took the loss. José Zapata locked down his 6th save.
Sandoval had a timely hit for Pine Island in the bottom of the seventh. With Pine Island trailing 3-2, he turned a 2-2 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 4-3, Pine Island.
"We ground out the win," said Sandoval. "That's all that matters."
The 10th-place Dolphins have a record of 11-22.
