7-2 Loss Extends Baltimore Losing Streak
|
Mike Joseph helped his team muscle past the Baltimore Bullets, 7-2. In the game, the Northern Virginia left fielder was 1-2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2. Wes Johnston snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 8 hits over 6.2 innings. He's now 6-6 on the season. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Baltimore.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Rainbow Mermaids sent 21-year-old second baseman Carlos Ríos to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a 2-run single, to put Northern Virginia on top, 6-2.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Baltimore manager Chris Schubert.
