Dolphins Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
Starting pitcher Chris Pate was a major factor in the 3-1 Pine Island Dolphins triumph over the Lancaster Farmers. Pate, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jerry Bower closed it out for his 6th save.
The Dolphins got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jim Woods. For the game, Woods went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Pine Island a 2-1 lead.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Pate.
The 9th-place Farmers have lost 4 straight games.
