The Squirrel Hill Pierogis took Barton Springs pitcher Barry Davis's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Blues Field. The final score had Squirrel Hill getting past the Blues, 3-2. Davis went 8 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 4. Squirrel Hill reliever Jorge Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Fernando Rivera took the loss. The win puts Squirrel Hill at 15-25.
Robert Tavares delivered a big hit for Squirrel Hill. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pierogis ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
Squirrel Hill manager Ben Cooper praised his team's "energy."
