Hops Roll to 8-2 Win Over Fat Cats
Led by Peyton Nelson, the Yakima Hops defeated the Ottawa Fat Cats, 8-2. Nelson was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Hops. Yakima pitcher Alejandro Cordero earned the win, hiking his record to 5-0. Lowell Martin suffered the loss. The setback makes Ottawa 18-23.

Yakima used a well-timed hit by Jorge Reyes to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hops ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Yakima manager Juan Valéncia.
