Late Charge Gets Yakima 9-6 Win
|
Though he had a stellar game, Robbie Shaw could not prevent his team, the Ottawa Fat Cats, from losing, 9-6, to the Yakima Hops. Shaw was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Danny Martin picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Dan George was tagged with the loss. Earning his 3rd save for Yakima was Clifford Tracy.
Jesús Hernández chipped in for Yakima, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.
"We came out aggressive," said Hops manager Juan Valéncia. "We came out swinging the bats."
The 9th-place Hops hiked their record to 20-22.
