The bats were silent much of the day at Sixshooters Stadium. But 23-year old center fielder José Torres produced just enough offense to carry the Sixshooters past the Providence Pilgrims, 3-1. Torres went 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Juan Carlos Rodríguez earned the win. Tom Boswell, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AA in complete games with 2, took the loss for Providence. Westwood now sports a record of 18-24.

There was more than one reason the Sixshooters beat the Pilgrims, but Torres's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"José is still learning," said Sixshooters manager . "The sky's the limit for him."
