Williams Leads Charge, Gwinnett Blasts Fat Cats
Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Ottawa fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Guinea Pigs had to.

The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs scored a convincing win at Nationals Park, defeating the Ottawa Fat Cats, 13-1. One of the hitting stars was 26-year old center fielder Dwayne Williams who was 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. The winner was Carlos Fernández, who threw 74 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. Logan Wrighton earned save number 1 this season.

Williams had a key at-bat in the top of the second to put Gwinnett in front, 3-0. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Ottawa pitcher Bailey Marshall.

Ottawa manager Jorge Carranza called the blowout loss "just something that happens."

The 'W' lifts Gwinnett's record to 20-27.
