Fur Traders Topple Rails, 8-4, as Baker Shines
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders beat the Richland Rails, 8-4, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Tacoma first baseman Matt Baker had an outstanding performance. He went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Chiah-jen Fu, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Tacoma is now 16-31, Richland 24-23.
Tacoma grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Baker, who is tied for 6th in the 3AA with a .377 on-base percentage, hit a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Fur Traders out in front, 5-4.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Baker told the Tacoma Daily News.
