Guinea Pigs Rally Late to Nip Rails
Richland wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Ernesto Valdéz, falling to the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 3-2. Valdéz threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The Guinea Pigs now have a record of 30-18.

Bill Reid delivered a big hit for Gwinnett. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"The vibe's good," said Gwinnett manager Clarence Sloan. "We've got to keep it going."
