Benas Leads Thunder to Win
The Toronto Thunder defeated the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 7-4, in part because of second baseman Fuzzy Benas. Benas was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Thunder. Juan Cruz, who is tied for 6th in the PL in strikeouts with 89, was the winner. He's now 6-4. The loser was John Schneider. The save was credited to Ron Murphy, his 15th.

Toronto grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Benas hit a 3-run home run off John Schneider. His 5th home run of the season put the Thunder out in front, 3-0.

"We're producers not directors," said Benas. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."

Toronto is now 38-36, Northern Virginia 35-39.
