Fat Cats Handle Guinea Pigs, 4-3
|
Gwinnett got a decent performance from pitcher Todd Turner, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ottawa Fat Cats. Ottawa won the Experimental Stadium contest, 4-3. Turner threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Anthon Arents, the winning pitcher, is now 4-4. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 10 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. Earning his 10th save for Ottawa was Fred Hull.
Scott Parker was vital to the Ottawa win. He went 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fourth with two out, Parker hit a 2-run single. It made the score 4-0, in favor of the Fat Cats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Gwinnett manager Pedro Vázquez said, following the tough loss.
The 'W' lifts Ottawa's record to 21-27.
