The Virginia Beach Whales picked up a win at Virginia Beach Grounds, knocking off the Toledo Saboteurs, 6-5. On the mound for Virginia Beach was right-hander Chip Beatty. He played a key role in the triumph. Virginia Beach reliever Andy Lewis picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jesse Yates took the loss. The Whales sit in last place in the Menard's AA with a record of 17-31.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Virginia Beach. That's when Brian Pilgrim hit a 2-run double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jesse Yates to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"This ballpark was lit," Pilgrim said.
