The Virginia Beach Whales took Ottawa pitcher Júlio Díaz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Virginia Beach Grounds. The final score had Virginia Beach getting past the Fat Cats, 2-1. Díaz went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. The Whales go to 18-31 with the win.
Virginia Beach got a knockout punch from Jeff Huffman. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Winning never gets dull," said Huffman.
