The Yakima Hops withstood an impressive performance by Virginia Beach right fielder Carlos Torres to defeat the Whales, 9-7, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Torres went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. After today's action, Yakima sits at 32-20, while Virginia Beach falls to 20-32.

Teodoro Testavallia delivered a big hit for Yakima. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hops ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
