Farmers Win 6-5 Nail-Biter Versus Ghosts
|
The Lancaster Farmers had to overcome a big game from Casper second baseman Juan Vega to leave Farmers Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 11 innings. Vega went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Fjodor Ishemgujin snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-3 on the season. Hai-feng Zhu suffered the loss. Lancaster has a record of 24-33, placing them 10th in the Menard's AA.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, 23-year old shortstop Fernando González had a chance to be the hero. Casper pitcher Hai-feng Zhu wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, González hit a sacrifice fly. The Farmers had themselves a thrilling win.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," González said.
