Rocketeers Win Nail-Biter in 12
|
The Seattle Rocketeers racked up a win at Pacesetter Park, bumping off the Toledo Stingers, 5-4, in 12 innings. Bruce Hawkins, who started for Seattle, pitched effectively for his team. Earning his 1st save for Seattle was Walt Stephens. The win puts the Rocketeers at 37-38, while the Stingers drop to 42-33.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 26-year old right fielder Patrice Ragot. Ragot had a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Rocketeers ahead, 5-4. For the game, Ragot had 1 double and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Hawkins told the Seattle Chronicle.
