Down to Defeat Goes Gwinnett, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Richland Rails and the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, pitcher Dave Sandoval was the difference between victory and defeat. The Richland right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Rails win. Sandoval picked up the win for Richland, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. The Rails now have a mark of 29-30.
Richland center fielder Bao-tian Yang contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Rails ahead, 2-1.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Gwinnett manager Pedro Vázquez, "let me know."
