Guinea Pigs Earn 3-0 Win Against Blues
|
In a tight affair between the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs and the Barton Springs Blues, pitcher Alfredo Pérez was in the zone. The Gwinnett right-hander helped his team win the game, 3-0. Gwinnett reliever Rod Pritchard got the win, raising his record to 6-1. Fernando Rivera was tagged with the loss. The first-place Guinea Pigs improved to 41-19.
Gwinnett got a game-changing hit from Steve García. The shortstop blasted a 3-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"If you're not prepared, it's not pressure you feel, it's fear," mused Gwinnett manager Clarence Sloan.
