Ruíz Delivers 3-0 Win
|
The Minnesota Loons went home winners at Virginia Beach Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Luis Ruíz. Ruíz stifled the Virginia Beach Whales, enabling Minnesota to grab the 3-0 win. Picking up his 20th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Tobías. Minnesota is now 38-24, while Virginia Beach is 23-39.
Ruíz, who dominated for Minnesota, earned the victory to move to 6-4. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 7. Virginia Beach batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck.
