Guinea Pigs Come Back Late, Nip Rails
Richland got a valiant performance from pitcher Morris Faulkner, but it wasn't enough to beat the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs. Gwinnett won the game, 3-2. Faulkner threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Sean Long snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-3 on the season. Ukko Markkanen suffered the loss. Gwinnett has an impressive 44-21 record.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Mauro López came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Richland pitcher Ukko Markkanen, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Gwinnett on top, 3-2.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Richland skipper Todd Hines.
