Squirrel Hill Pierogis starter Xavier Martínez pitched his team past the Virginia Beach Whales, 4-0. Squirrel Hill, at 30-35, occupies 8th place in the Menard's AA.

Glenn Beck had a big run-scoring double for the Pierogis in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Squirrel Hill leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Mario González and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pierogis ahead, 2-0.

"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Martínez.
