The Minnesota Loons defeated the Providence Pilgrims, 9-3, at Loony Bin. Minnesota right fielder Simon Tapley had a superb performance. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. William Edwards, the winner, improved to 8-2. He held Providence to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Kun Yi nailed down the save.

Early in the game, Tapley had a 2-run home run for Minnesota. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Loons on top, 2-0.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck.

With the win, Minnesota pushed its record to 41-25.
