Ghosts Win Squeaker, 4-3, Over Sixshooters
|
Casper picked up a win at The Graveyard, bumping off the Westwood Sixshooters, 4-3. Pitcher Scott Goff was a major reason the Ghosts emerged victorious. Casper pitcher Maxwell Powers got the win. He's now 4-2. Joe Smith was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Hai-feng Zhu, his 16th.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Larry Armstrong came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Westwood pitcher Joe Smith, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Casper on top, 4-3.
In postgame comments to the Casper Citizen, Armstrong said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the win over Westwood, the Ghosts improved to 34-33.
