Fat Cats Get Past Casper for 4-3 Win
|
Casper wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Don Walker, falling to the Ottawa Fat Cats, 4-3. Walker threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Bob O'Reilly earned the win for Ottawa. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 2-4. The save went to Mark Wilson, number 15 for him.
Ottawa used a clutch hit from Ron Mitchell to snatch the win. The first baseman belted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fat Cats ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
Mitchell attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
With the win, Ottawa pushed its record to 34-34.
