Rainbow Mermaids Win Thriller, 8-7
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Colorado Billy Goats, 8-7. Third Baseman José Cuebas deserved a large share of the credit. Cuebas was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rainbow Mermaids. The setback makes Colorado 41-35.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Northern Virginia trailing 7-6, Cuebas jumped on a fastball from 2053 Newcomer of the Year Award winner Min Der and hit a 2-run home run to center. With one swing, the Rainbow Mermaids had a walk-off win.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Cuebas.
