Sixshooters Use Late Score to Top Fat Cats, 3-2
|
The Westwood Sixshooters knocked off the Ottawa Fat Cats, 3-2, in M3L Double A action at Sixshooters Stadium. Westwood pitcher and Beltsville, Maryland, native Kent Stephens had an outstanding performance. Peter Dupree recorded the save for Westwood, his 18th of the season. The Sixshooters have now won 4 straight.
Had Fred McClure not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McClure hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Sixshooters.
McClure said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
