Extra-Inning Win by Whales Over Farmers
The Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Lancaster Farmers in 11 innings, 8-6, in part because of designated hitter Don Knight. Knight went 2 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs for the Whales. The winner was Ric Nelson in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Andrew Carlson took the loss. Virginia Beach now has a record of 36-35 with the win.

This game was not decided until John Hall came to bat in the top of the 11th. With the bases loaded and one out, the Virginia Beach shortstop drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Whales took the lead, 6-5.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Knight, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
