In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Yakima pitcher José Mecedone did his part in helping his team defeat the Minnesota Loons, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Mecedone yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-4.
Peyton Nelson, who is tied for 3rd in the 3AA in runs scored with 43, aided the Yakima cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
"Bottom line," said Minnesota skipper Calvin Beck, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The second-place Loons dropped to 43-29.
