The Lancaster Farmers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Garry Bennett into a win. Instead, the Toledo Saboteurs prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Bennett threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The Saboteurs saw their win-loss record go to 36-42. At the same time, the Farmers fell to 37-41.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Toledo first baseman Carlos Alvarado, facing Gideon Paddock, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Saboteurs the 4-3 win.
Said Alvarado: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
