The Yakima Hops beat the Ottawa Fat Cats, 4-2. Yakima pitcher and Moore, Oklahoma, native José Mecedone led the way. Mecedone, now 4-4, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. At 38-40, the Hops claim 8th place in the Menard's AA.

The Fat Cats had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Hops going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old first baseman Felipe de Rade came to the plate. de Rade hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 changeup from Ottawa hurler Bob O'Reilly. It was de Rade's 8th home run of the year.

de Rade called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
