The Virginia Beach Whales besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Richland second baseman António Medina by beating the Rails, 6-4, at Rails Ballpark. Medina went 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. Cristovão Mineiro picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Fernando Rodríguez suffered the loss. Andy Lewis finished the game for Virginia Beach and earned his 8th save.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Brian Pilgrim? The 25-year old left fielder Pilgrim stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Virginia Beach up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Pilgrim.

With the win over Richland, the Whales improved to 38-42.
