Guinea Pigs Come Up Short at Westwood, 4-3
|
The Westwood Sixshooters did just enough to sneak past the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 4-3, at Sixshooters Stadium. Westwood pitcher Pepe Aguilar, in particular, had a standout performance. Aguilar yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-8. Jussi-Pekka Hostikka was called on to finish, recording his 17th save.
Juan Medina dealt the Guinea Pigs a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Westwood leading 3-0, Medina, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AA in triples with 4, hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Both teams played hard," said Westwood manager Ismael Soto.
Westwood, at 30-50, sits in 11th place in the Menard's AA.
