The Squirrel Hill Pierogis withstood an impressive performance by Yakima first baseman Thomas Austin to defeat the Hops, 6-5, at Field of the Rawhides. Austin went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 8th-place Pierogis improved to 40-43.

Ricardo Aquino was the walk-off hero for Squirrel Hill. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pierogis pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Aquino said.
