Loons Deal Eclipse 6-0 Defeat
|
Minnesota pitcher Luis Ruíz had a large part in his team subduing the Northville Eclipse, 6-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Ruíz, now 7-8, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. José García picked up the save, his 1st.
Minnesota took the lead, 4-0, on Leo Moore's 13th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Northville pitcher Zhi Ling in the top of the eighth.
"I liked his command," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck. "Luis was throwing strikes."
The Loons move to 52-33 with the win, while the Eclipse drop to 46-39.
