The Ottawa Fat Cats beat the Virginia Beach Whales, 6-5, at Nationals Park. Juan Leyva, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AA in bases on balls with 73, starred for Ottawa. He was 2-2 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Mark Wilson, credited with the save, is now 15 for 17 in save opportunities. The Fat Cats now own a record of 38-48.

The Whales had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Fat Cats going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Ben Campbell came to the plate. Campbell hit a run-scoring double on a 2-1 cutter from Virginia Beach hurler Miguel Martínez. It was Campbell's 1st double of the year.

"Enjoyed this one," Campbell told the Ottawa News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
