Stingers Pick Up 4-1 Win Against New Orleans
|
Alex Thompson, who led the PL in strikeouts with 147 last year, pitched well, but the New Orleans Voodoo still fell short, losing, 4-1, to the Toledo Stingers at The Voodoo Lounge. Rodrigo García, the winning pitcher, is now 7-4. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. Sam Myers was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 20 save opportunities.
Toledo used the clutch hitting of David Ruíz to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stingers ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We did a lot of things right," said Ruíz.
The win puts Toledo at 46-32 this season.
