Burton, Voodoo Beat Patriots, 10-6
|
New Orleans shortstop Fred Burton had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Boston Patriots, 10-6. Al Hussey snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 3.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Jared Wilson closed the game out for New Orleans, earning his 3rd save.
Tied up with the Patriots in the top of the fourth inning, the Voodoo got a boost from second baseman Rubén Vargas. With the bases loaded, Vargas saw a 2-0 cutter from Orlando Díaz and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put New Orleans on top, 7-5.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Burton told the New Orleans Citizen.
With the win, New Orleans goes to 4-4.
