Dolphins Use Late Score to Top Sixshooters, 4-3
|
The Pine Island Dolphins did just enough to nip the Westwood Sixshooters, 4-3, in 10 innings. Pine Island pitcher Jerry Scott, in particular, had a standout performance. Pine Island reliever Silas Jacobs snagged the win, upping his record to 3-4. Peter Dupree shouldered the loss. With the victory, the Dolphins record stands at 44-47.
The Dolphins were down to their final out when right fielder Brandon Denning turned a 1-1 slider from Peter Dupree into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Goodyear Hanger Dome crowd go wild.
Pine Island manager Alfonso Dolton commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
