Saboteurs Lose, 7-5
|
Whales right fielder Brian Pilgrim put his stamp on his team's 7-5 win over the Toledo Saboteurs. Pilgrim was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for Virginia Beach in the contest. Hou-kang Wu was the winner. He's now 4-4. The loser was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Johnny Matthews. Barry St. John was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 6 save opportunities.
Pilgrim had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from Johnny Matthews, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Whales a 7-5 lead. It was the 16th double of the year for Pilgrim.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Pilgrim.
Toledo's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
