Yakima picked up a win at Hops Park, bumping off the Casper Ghosts, 8-4. Pitcher Clay Smith was a major reason the Hops emerged victorious. Alonso Smith notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 4-3. The loss makes Casper 52-39.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jemke Coppens came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Casper pitcher Calvin Godwin, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Yakima on top, 5-4.

"Clay pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Yakima manager Juan Valéncia.
