The Asheville Highlanders picked up a win at Asheville Park, downing the Richland Rails, 2-1, in 10 innings. On the mound for Asheville was right-hander Artie Morrow, who played a pivotal role in the win. Asheville reliever Luis Villarreal picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Mario Happ was saddled with the loss. Asheville is now 51-41, Richland 52-40.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Francisco Cardenas in the bottom of the tenth. That's when he hit a run-scoring double off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Happ to win it for Asheville and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

"This place was rocking at the end," Morrow said.
