Fat Cats Take Nail-Biter Over Eclipse
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Ottawa Fat Cats and Northville Eclipse.
The Ottawa Fat Cats took Edgardo García's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Nationals Park. The final score had Ottawa getting past the Eclipse, 6-5, in 11 innings. García over 5.2 innings allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 6. Mark Wilson, who is tied for 7th in the 3AA in saves with 16, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-10. The losing pitcher was Eric Truax.
Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 24-year old left fielder Robbie Shaw had a real shot to win the game. Northville pitcher Eric Truax was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Shaw hit a run-scoring single. The Fat Cats had a walk-off triumph.
In postgame comments, Shaw said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
Ottawa is now 41-52, while Northville is 62-31.
