Voodoo Come Up Short at Seattle, 2-1
|
The Seattle Rocketeers claimed a close win over the New Orleans Voodoo, due in large part to Manuel Bernal. The Seattle left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Bernal yielded no runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-0. Ben van de Loo closed it out for his 1st save.
Bill Miller cracked a home run off Pedro Cruz in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run blast put the Rocketeers on top, 2-0. In all, Miller had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
Seattle manager Andrew Powell commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The 6th-place Rocketeers lifted their record to 37-42.
